Rush is a band of creative, skilled musicians; something we need more of these days. I also appreciate the variety of textures in each song. With only three band members, it can be easy to have the same sound all the time.
There are some great time signature changes in the song "Working' Them Angels"Musically they seem to want to avoid creating or playing anything that is too obvious or conventional."Armor and Sword", clocking in at over six and a half minutes, drags a bit, "The Main Monkey Business".After 30+ years of making music I can see how the typical rock song would be boring for these master musicians.There's also some limited keyboards on this record, Lee is credited solely with the melotron."The Main Monkey Business," reminiscent of their earliest work to the seductive almost folkloric urgency of "The Way the Wind Blows," which is as dangerous, anxious, and prophetic as anything that Arcade Fire or Mars Volta is doing currently. Main Lyricist Neil Peart has spent the last decade getting over the death of his wife and daughter, and those tragic events have given his songwriting more depth and gravity as he explores the strengths and limitations of faith in both metaphoric and literal detai.Alex Lifeson is credited in the liner notes as playing "six and twelve-string electric and acoustic guitars, mandola, and mandolin.As someone who's all for progress and has always loved Rush primarily for their willingness to keep looking forward and finding new sounds.

Rush albums between 1974-1987, it manages to incorporate at least one song from each album released during that time period except for Caress of Steel, an underrated gem. Although thisalbum says "Greatest Hits", none of these songs reached billboard success except for "New World Man",Rush's Spirit of Radio compilation is an ideal point of entry for newbie fans or anyone who consistently likes the Rush songs most often heard on commercial radio which peaked at #16. Essentially this is a "Best Of" compilation, gathering up all the radio staples such as "Limelight", "Tom Sawyer", and "Subdivisions".The cover booklet gives interesting info on all of Rush's albums and each and every song on this album

Skid Row - B-Side Ourselves

'B-Sides...' has just five songs and runs twenty minutes.Skid Row playing five of their personal favorite covers.
Psycho Therapy (the Ramones) - Nothing's more fun than a Ramones cover. Bach & the boys take on this punk rock classic and seem to enjoy themselves in the process.
C'Mon and Love Me (KISS) - I'll give them credit for not picking an obvious KISS song, and they deliver a faithful cover version.
Delivering the Goods (Judas Priest) - This live track features a guest appearance by Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford. Bach ends the song proclaiming his love for Halford, which you have to find slightly ironic given Rob's (at the time) closet homosexuality and Bach's homophobic "AIDS kills f--s dead" t-shirt controversy. The song still rocks though, and is worth the price of the CD just to hear these two screamers perform together.
What You're Doing (Rush) - Again, I give them credit for picking a song that you wouldn't expect. This one comes from way back on Rush's debut album.
Little Wing (Jimi Hendrix) - It's not easy to cover a legend, but the band does a good job here both musically and vocally. The Ramone's "Psycho Therapy" with bassist Rachel Bolan on lead vocals.Something I didn't at all expect to see here,was with their cover of the Judas Priest tune "Delivering The Goods",that Rob Halford was trading off vocals with Sebastian Bach.The two remaining cuts are Kiss's "C'mon And Love Me" and Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing"

Skid Row - Subhuman Race

Bachs trademark pipes soaring and growling their way through tunes that had more in common with Slave to the Grind than the debut. Which is as you'd expect. Heavy rockers abound here as hard riffing is the order of the day, personal faves bein the lead cut My Enemy, the title track and Medicine Jar. That's not to deny the impassioned Bach efforts on Frozen or Beat Yourself Blind. And the band weren't above a few gimmicks, such as the single Breakin' Down being issued in two versions, effectively trying to double sales for the single.Skid Row's finest ever offered, serving up monstrous riffs, Bach dishing out catastrophic vocals, and the entire band bashing away at some of the heaviest music ever.

Every song is slamming', the most fatal ones being My Enemy, Bonehead, BEAT YOURSELF BLIND, Subhuman Race, Frozen and Breaking' Down.Lyrically, a major progression has taken place. Songs like "Frozen" and "Firesign" are great examples of that lyricism at work. "Breakin' Down" a song written by "Snake" Sabo should satisfy the ballad crowd as should "Eileen". The album is a bit of a departure for the band but is still down and dirty rock and roll, just like when the band started.

sepultura - Arise

Sepultura - "Arise" is a true thrash metal masterpiece and it is also considered by most people (me included) to be Sepultura's last "pure thrash" disc. It is a complete tour de force for lead guitarist Andreas Kisser; his fingers must be worn down to the bone by the time he's done playing any one of these songs.Sepultura's world on Arise is an unforgettable one - it is heavy, bleak and beautiful all at once. If you've ever driven the New Jersey Turnpike on a rainy afternoon and said to yourself, `damn, those factories are strangely beautiful', you know exactly what I'm talking about. If you're still clueless, imagine the sort of music that might go along with the song titles, "Dead Embryonic Cells", "Desperate Cry", "Altered State", and "Under Siege (Regnum Irae)". This is metal with an appeal that crosses international boundaries.

The title track has blindingly fast guitar work and pounding drums, and "Dead Embryonic Cells" is the popular (and controversially named) lead single which has fiery, chugging riffs and thumping drums.on the first track, "Arise", he warns of a "terrorist confrontation waiting for the end" and "cities fall(ing) in ruin". Then, on the classic "Dead Embryonic Cells", Max rails against "tribal violence everywhere, life in the age of terrorism". "Desperate Cry" has many different parts to it, including several tempo changes and an acoustic intro. After the "Tarzan-esque" intro, "Altered State" turns to heavy churning, cascading, almost grinding riffs. A nice, long guitar solo is included, here, as well. "Under Siege" is mid-paced, with chug and churn guitars and an acoustic intro, but the next two tracks ("Meaningless Movements" and "Infected Voice") are straight-up, full speed ahead thrashers. Finally, "Orgasmatron" is a catchy Motorhead cover, and a nice homage to a Sepultura influence.

Max, Andreas, Igor, and Paulo Jr. would later make albums that were much more experimental and a lot less heavy than this album, but "Arise" is the sound of Sepultura at their masterpiece.

This album is a classic! It belongs in every serious collection of music.Skid Row distinguished themselves from the legions of pop-metal bands of the late '80s and early '90s chiefly by their attitude, which was closer to Guns N' Roses than to Bon Jovi,Whitesnake or Def Leppard."Skid Row" is one of those albums that embodies that time of my life. From "Youth Gone Wild" to "I Remember You," the simple lyrics talked to every teenager growing at that time. There isn't anything great about any of the songs here, but they were the world to a lot of people back in '89. "18 and Life" is on the Classic Rock.
Big Guns -- Dirty lyric-filled, loud, slightly bluesy pop/metal anthem. A great opener.Sweet Little Sister -- Fast paced, heavy, but also extremely catchy and somewhat poppy tune.Can't Stand the Heartache -- Only a teeny bit less heavy, but more of an arena rock 'post love' anthem. Very underrated and another highlight of the album you won't hear on the radio.Piece of Me -- One of the hits/videos. Probably the toughest, heaviest song on the album. An angry sounding, almost straight metal tune about fighting and partying. It's still singable though.18 & Life -- The most well-known tune. A melodic but still hard-edged pop/power ballad about a suicidal guy named Ricky. A slight departure from what most of the era's bands' power ballads sounded like.Rattlesnake Shake -- Yet again, a tough, streetwise hard rocker about a prostitute. Reminds me of something Guns N' Roses would do.Youth Gone Wild -- Another well known, shout-along rebellious (yet fun) anthem. Loud and heavy, yet slightly melodic.Here I Am -- Not one of my favorites. A non-hit, rawer metal anthem.Makin' A Mess -- A fast paced hard rocker, but it strays from the 'Get Chicks and Party' theme of the album. A first person account of, what sounds like, spouse abuse. Told in an anti- kind of way, but not a ballad at all.
I Remember You -- The other power ballad of the album. A somewhat acoustic tune in parts, almost reminding me of Mr Big's hit "To Be With You." It still rocks, but it's probably the highest song here.Midnight/Tornado -- Yet another underrated rocker that got away.
This one has more of a melodic, power rock sound to it. It's somewhat heavy as well, but it's one of those songs even someone who isn't a fan of hard rock could like.Sebastian Bach's voice is incredible, and he brings the songs on this album to life. It is easy to see why SKID ROW stood out in the crowd of fledgling bands that emerged at that time. The songs don't sound "all the same" and there's absolutely no "filler" in this album. You can expect to enjoy every song.

Skid Row - Slave to the Grind

Skidrow Slave to the Grind album is the absolute epitome of Southern American Hard rock, from the same school as Blackfoot. "Monkey Business", "Slave to the Grind", "Living on a Chain Gang", and "Mudkicker" are some of the heaviest and best songs ever recorded.

Heavy doesn't always make it good. Hard rocking doesn't always make it heavy. But it all comes together - completely together - on Slave to the Grind.The Guns 'n' Roses comparison is tempting, but GnR have a completely different style overall (with the exception of maybe "Welcome to the Jungle") and, as a vocalist, Axel Rose sounds positively weedy and strangled next to Mr Bach's mighty lungs. It must also be noted that Slash's solos lack the tight structures of Sabo's.

This album shares the same qualities of greatness. The whole feeling of a journey is there from start to finish - and that feeling at the end of having arrived somewhere. This is often accompanied by dissatisfaction, in the sense that it is better to travel than to arrive, and there is a powerful urge to start the whole thing over.Slave to the Grind" is far heavier and meaner than the debut album. It sounds like "Appetite For Destruction" era Guns N' Roses meets Pantera.

The songs are heavy, and in-your-face, yet also highly melodic, and filled with killer solos. Singer Sebastian Bach has a very distinct set of pipes that make him unique and set him apart from all the generic David Lee Roth wannabe singers from the late 80s.This was a real shame, because Skid Row was a great band, and their sophomore album "Slave to the Grind" remains great record.

Sex Pistols' albums: "Never Mind the Bollocks" and "Rock n Roll Swindle." There's just nothing out there that even remotely resembles the Pistols' version of 'Roadrunner'.the Sex Pistols remain the greatest punk band of all time and this disc has just about everything they ever did. There are liner notes for every single song (which actually come straight out of John Rotten's 1995 book, "Rotten: No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs", which is a fabulous auto-biographical recount of the whole mid-seventies madness."Live in Trondheim, 21 July 1977," a pretty good recording of a decent performance with Sid on bass.Sid Vicious' version of "My Way," a brilliant/stupid, trashing/celebration of the Sinatra/Presley egotistical classic. Is this Sid's finest moment? It's a phenomenal piece of work, really. The last song is "Silly Thing," sung by Steve Jones after Rotten had left the band and "Satellite" has some of the best Rotten lyrics, a fantastic Steve Jones riff,

There are still a few good solid songs though like "Belson was a gas" and "I'm not your stepping stone"."A Punk Prayer" with Ronnie Biggs is a lot more fun than an entire Damned Box Set, "C'mon Everybody" has Sidney going at it with a spot-on Joey Ramone impression, "Belsen Was a Gas" tore us all up back in grade nine.along with songs such as "Don't Give Me No Lip Child" and "Substitute", this album went down as one of my favorites. Sure, "Friggin' In The Riggin'" and Sid's infamous rendition of "My Way"

Every song is remastered. The first disc is the studio tracks and some their first demos. The second disc is demos like 'Stepping Stone', 'No Lip', and others. The third disc is their famous concert at the Screen on the Green Cinema and a few unrealesed live songs, including 'Flowers of Romance' and 'Understanding'cover of the Creation's "Through My Eyes" which is more like a warm-up that lasts about a minute or so. If only they had actually recorded the song full out, it would have been great fun! Some of the well-known covers such as "Stepping Stone" and "Substitute" are presented differently; the vocal tracks are the same, but the music is an early, rough mix. An improvement to the over-produced versions previously available. "No Fun" is pretty much the same, they just cut it off a few seconds later so we get more studio conversation. Virgin provides some live tracks, in addition to the complete live show, that sound more like set fillers and audience agitation; mostly moaning, improvisation and feedback.

The tracklist itself is pretty solid. It takes the basic "Never Mind the Bollocks" template and appends some tracks from that era and that Monkees cover that ever punk band does.the inept sound of so many other live albums by the Sex Pistols. "Better Live than Dead" is a grainy bootleg with professional packaging, and the "Chelmsford" show is a joke--lousy sound, coupled with a staged "background" tape that repeats several times throughout the show.
This album has quite exceptional sound, and fortunately, after an additional 20+ years, finds the Sex Pistols with a bit more mastery over their instruments.The band itself, despite playing the same chords as always, sound tighter than you'd expect. The fact that the distortion exeeds that you might be expecting also shows how these aging punks won't go down without a noisy fight.'Filthy Lucre Live'(Lucre is French for 'money')is actually pretty good,I thought.It's a live recording of a reunion gig the guys did in London in early 1996,they toured the states later that fall.I've heard several negative reviews about this reunion,even remember Johnny Rotten nearly popping some MTV staff member on the chin during a TV interview.

sepultura - Chaos A.D

"Chaos AD" also features Sepultura's first serious exploration of tribal and political issues, with the songs "Kaiowas" (named for a tribe of native South Americans that were all but wiped out) and "Biotech is Godzilla" (co-written by Jello Biafra).Before "Chaos A.D.," Sepultura were a great death metal band that were as important as Slayer. The only problem was that the genre that Sepultura helped create had become very popular by the early 1990's. Bands like Carcass, Napalm Death, Morbid Angel, and Suffocation had formed and Sepultura.

"Refuse/Resist" leads off the album with a ripping-hammer punch that socks you into your seat. "Territory", "Slave New World" and "Nomad" are outstanding songs as well, running the gamut from the slow, heavy trudge to the fast-paced pummeling guitar that was Sepultura's bread and butter for so long.
Amen" has chug and churn, up and down riffs. I enjoy the part of this song when the beat comes down a few decibels and some female vocals sing over the light percussion. The song ends with bobbing riffs and some good, pounding drum work.
The aforementioned "Kaiowas" remains a staple/centerpiece of Sepultura's live shows. The band members play for a little while, then abruptly stop to talk amongst themselves. They finally shut up and play the rest of the song in is entirety. They strum the acoustic guitars fast and the drums thump, but, even still, this is a very pretty, melodic, and atmospheric song. I also enjoy the squawking birds, giving it a rainforest vibe.
"Propaganda" has machine gun riffs which, together with the drums, sound awesome. Another Slayer-esque, careening guitar solo is included, and the song ends with cascading riffs.
"Biotech is Godzilla" has a scorching opening riff, but this song is a highlight because of the tempo changes (before and after the choruses, which are slower) and the catchy shout along: "BIO-TECH!"
"Nomad" has some more stop-start rhythms and riffs, and increasingly fast, heavy, and talented drum work (which becomes especially apparent at the end).
Some of the all time sepultura classics are on this disc, including slave new world, refuse/resist, amen, propaganda, biotech is godzilla, clench fist, territory, and nomad. Sepulutura are flawless on this album, the political lyrics, the deep growls of max, the great guitars by andreas, and drums of igor.

celine dion - A New Day Has Come

On A New Day Has Come, the big production numbers most associated with the Canadian superstar's name ("My Heart Will Go On," "Because You Loved Me") are evoked by the two versions of "I Surrender" and somewhat lifeless covers of "At Last" and "Nature Boy." At the same time, though, Dion shows her willingness to stretch on the classic-house homage "Sorry for Love" and the unavoidably catchy "Right in Front of You" and "Ten Days." The album's unexpected, often low-key production allows Dion to emote in a straightforward way that gracefully skirts the chest thumping of past days, and the relative subtlety works in her favor.The album starts with I'M ALIVE, which is fresh, and has a 'make-you-wanna-dance' rhythm to it. Then there's RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, which starts out dark and swiches to a poppish sound, the one that Celine seems to give a mature and beautiful sound to. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN LOVE is a beautiful song, with some of the most beautiful lyrics.The second song "Right in front of you" has a mix of great sound and beautiful lyrics, this one is followed by "Have you ever been in love" which is a romantic soft ballad, track #4 was written by Tina Turner's songwritter Terry Writting (What's love got to do with it), the song is "Rain, tax", after this song comes the great hit "A new day has come", what a wonderful song

Celine's voice is excellent and the production is well done.At least she was teaming up with famous photographer, Anne Geddes.There are no up-tempo tracks although there are some songs with a little more movement to them. The soothing sound is great to relax to after putting the baby down for a nap that predominantly on this album.

Displaying a generosity toward her fans, Dion cherry picks nine signature singles ("My Heart Will Go On," "Because You Loved Me," "Beauty and the Beast"), then fills the rest of the CD with seven new cuts when one or two would have done the commercial trick.Her rendition of the Roberta Flack tune, First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, is soft and memorable. If Walls Could Talk displays the music magic of Shania Twain's husband, Mutt Lange, and even Shania makes a cameo appearance on background vocals. That's the Way It Is is a toe-tappin' hit. When You Look at We are truly lucky to experience her talent and sincerity to her work. I can say that the new tracks on All the Way rival the old and even her greatest French recording "On Ne Change Pas".Me reunites Horner and Dion and it is unforgetable. The song, the title track from the upcoming Chris Columbus movie Bicentennial Man, and starring Robin Williams, is arguably a better song than My Heart will Go On and looks like another Oscar contender for best song from a movie.

Taking Chances celine dion albums."Taking Chances" doesn't quite do what the title suggests, it's pretty predictable, overpolished and overdone This album is just the essence of what Celine has been doing in English for a long, long while. No that new, not that good, not that bad...just a remarkable but over produced voice.Celine has a beautiful one of a kind voice and most of her past albums."Taking Chances" sees Dion teaming up with a host of internationally renowned songwriters and top, most expensive producers that have produced some of the biggest pop hits in the last five, ten years to produce yet another album of her signature over-the-top ballads.

The album begins in surprisingly restrained fashion, with Dion crooning softly over a near-acoustic musical backdrop, but the soft rock bombast kicks in soon enough.
She doesn't have the sensitive, raw touch to pull off her cover of "Heart's Alone" and to match the emotional and unparalleled version by Ann Wilson but she enters into the gutsy rhythm'n'blues feel of "That's Just the Woman in Me".
Elsewhere, Dion sticks to her bombastic power-ballad comfort zone, warbling away in the upper echelons of her range, smashing and crashing with her super powerful pipes -- unnecessarily fully unleashed -- all the small feelings and emotions and nuances out of her songs, and riding those key changes with that air of barely suppressed insanity and tasteless, hystrionic record-setting vocalism which she and Mariah Carey have made all their own.

sepultura - Blood Rooted

sepultura - "Blood Rooted' gets off to a decent enough start. Celtic Frost's "Procreation Of The Wicked" would be heavy and menacing no matter who played it. This is as heavy as a truckload of bricks, with a nice line in stressed guitar effects.the front cover of `Blood Rooted' a little stamp says "Over an hour of live and rare material".Roadrunner panicked, and started grubbing round to see how much Sepultura material they could find. The archives were quite full, with a heap of studio outtakes and enough concert material for a killer live album.

This album is very uneven, and would have been a very unsatisfying epitaph for a once great band had it been the final release.The Song Procreation (of the Wicked), actually outdoes the original by Celtic Frost. Other stand outs include the Symptom of the Universe, (Black Sabbath) even with its poor quality and Drug Me (Dead Kennedys). The main difference in the remix of Lookaway is that you can hear Jon Davis (Korn vocalist) a lot better then on the original.Sepultura manage to wreck up the unwreckable- Black Sabbath's "Symptom Of The Universe". It has two redeeming features- Igor's drumming, which is incredibly precise, and Andreas' solo. Otherwise, Max half-heartedly strums his way through the rhythms, and listlessly moans and grumbles through the lyrics.

The studio tracks are hardly worth the effort, and the half-a-live album is too short. Approach it with eyes and ears wide open. Well, it's a great addition to any Sepultura fan's collection.

Alicia Keys arrived on the scene back in 2001 with her No.1, multi-platinum debut album "Songs In A Minor." The Grammy award winning album made Alicia a worldwide superstar and a true force to be reckoned with in the music industry. "The Diary Of Alicia Keys'" puts Beyonce, Shakira, Underwood, & all of today's female artists from every genre of music in the bargain bin. The album starts with the classical song "Harlem's Nocturne." Her Piano playing is superb, then a choir joins in aided by a fine beat.Her debut album was ever so slightly overhyped which then made the follow-up, "The Diary Of Alicia Keys," ever so slightly over-anticipated upon its fall 2003 release.

There are other flashes of brilliance throughout the album that let you know that Alicia is a force to be reckoned with. But you always get the feeling that there is too much left in reserve."If I Ain't Got You" displays Alicia's superb vocals perhaps better than on any other track. Alicia really sells the song and this is the second single. Meanwhile, the gorgeously-melodic "Diary (Featuring Tony! Toni! Tone!)" is a definite album highlight. The gentle piano creeps in here and drops to offer superb lyrics; "Just think of me as the pages in your diary." "Dragon Days" is one of the album's highlights. Alicia sings of the dragon days when the fire was hot, like a desert needing water, baby! Her soulful voice totally complements the song's mature mood. "Wake Up" is yet another highlight with Alicia displaying her vocals once more in an up-tempo track about relationship troubles.

Obviously Alicia couldn't compete with her debut single "Fallin'" on her comeback single, so what does she do? She releases a six-minute, future-classic love ballad masterpiece with spine-tingling piano trickles and a full-on telephone section, remeniscent of Stevie Wonder's "I Just Called To Say I Love You!""When You Really Love Someone," seems like a cross between "A Woman's Worth & Fallin?" I would call it the former part two. "Wake Up & So Simple" are too familiar & the latter has some annoying sounds. "Slow Down," is reminiscent of Janet Jackson's "Lets Wait Awhile." "Nobody Not Really," is lighter & has a less cloudy or dark feel as if the day was just starting.

Alicia's album is a fine gem, here the slightly scaled back sound allows her vocals to shine. She occasionally goes from the Piano to Organ with equal dexterity. "Fallin," gets a semi-operatic treatment here.With MTV's decision to revive its much-missed "Unplugged" series came a certain obligation: Whoever was going to kick the shows off needed to have the means to deliver serious heat, Grammy-vote garnering heat. The "powers that be" couldn't have chosen better than Alicia Keys.She gives a more seductive tone to "Diary & If I Ain't Got You." The former is one of my all time favorites. In "Streets Of New York," the first part with her recitation is ok, but the second part with it's jazzy tones blend well with her more controlled voice.she's a force of equal might and measure. All the favorites are here, the danceable "Karma" carries into the funky "Heartburn" and the give-it-up glory of "Unbreakable." "Fallin'," "If I Ain't Got You," and "You Don't Know My Name" come later, but interspersed are enough pleasant surprises to make even fanatical Keys followers forget the signature songs

Skid Row - Thickskin

Snake and the boys came up with a fresh new aproach that should still keep the die hards happy. From the first track "New Generation" you know what to expect. Heavy and energetic rock is back. No the singer is not Sebastian, But he is very talented in his own right.The song writing of Rachel Bolan & Snake Sabo along with Scotti Hill on the heavy-rockin "Hittin' the Wall" are great.Johnny Solinger helped out in writing "Mouth of Voodoo", and a couple of outside writers helped out in a couple of other tunes.
The group proves that haven't lost a step when it comes to songwriting either. "Born a Beggar" starts off with a great twangy guitar intro, as the deep vocals of Solinger describe one's devotion to their significant other. The group goes in the opposite lyrical direction on "See You Around", a moving power ballad about breaking up. The chunky guitars of "Thick is the Skin" boast more of the updated sound, as does "Mouth of Voodoo". "Lamb" has a wicked baseline and a distinguished chorus.

Glen Matlock and Steve Jones explain a bit about where riffs for songs came from, and how the songs developed. Also included are interviews with Jamie Reid (cover art designer), Chris Spedding (producer), and Bill Pryce (engineer).English "punk" or anyone just passionate about rock music.
Steve Jones demonstrating just how he gets that guitar sound by effortlessly casting off patented wall-of-noise riffs from his white Les Paul, and Price showing how he combined guitar, bass, drum and vocal tracks in the studio to create a big, beautiful din that a thousand Nirvanas couldn't come close to duplicating if their lives depended on itWe are treated to candid and relaxed interviews with the important characters involved in bringing this great album to life NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS has never grown old, the music brilliantly simple. In addition, knowing the history of the band, it makes the music that much richer. On this documentary - John Lydon speaks fondly to the comic, almost camp feel at the heart of this album. Steve Jones laments that if they hadn't kicked Glen out, if they didn't do the Bill Grundy show - there may have been more albums from the SEX PISTOLS.

Sepultura with Max is the best metal band period. Derrick Green had a hard job filling in for Max when he joined the band. The first album he did with Sepultura Against was a good 4 star album. It was a bit uneven and they weren't as good as they used to be but they still rocked.

Every song is ferocious and impactful and down right amazingly crafted. The bonuss disc "Revolusongs" showcases Sepultura's divine ability to cover songs and make them their ownTheir next effort Nation was a disaster. What ever they played it wasn't metal, hell it wasn't even hard rock. Igor the best drummer in the world, merely taps the drum instead of his usual pounding, awe inducing drumming. On this album Roorback Igor unleashes once again. He plays with speed and power and carries this band. Andreas on guitar does his best work since Roots the last album with Max. If you accept that this bands best days are behind them and realize they are a different band the music is enjoyable.

The lead track Come Back Alive is the best song on the album but other good ones are Apes of God & Corrupted.On this album Roorback Igor unleashes once again. He plays with speed and power and carries this band. Andreas on guitar does his best work since Roots the last album with Max.This album is the group's tenth album total, but only their third album without original vocalist Max Cavalera and with Derrick Green behind the mic

This record radiates not just old-soul maturity, the kind Alicia fans say makes her modern rarity, but real soul."Like You'll Never See Me Again, No One, I Need You, Tell You Something, & The Thing About Love," are my five favorites from this album. The latter has an Al Green early 1970's feel to it with an angry middle which most folks at some time in their lives can relate to. While the former may eventually challenge "Fallin" as her best song to date? It has lucid lyrics & a depth of feeling to it that many modern tunes lack. "I Need You has Alicia pulling you into the song & "Tell You Something" is a thoughtful get you to think tune. While "No One" is a sensual speaks for itself song.

This record radiates not just old-soul maturity, the kind Alicia fans say makes her modern rarity, but real soul. Skid Row - Revolutions Per Minute

The twelve new songs on Revolutions Per Minute see Skid Row pulling out all the stops. Bolan, Hill and Sabo play their guitars with a vengeance, firing off power chords by the second, turning their amps to the max and apparently knowing but one "Slave to the Grind," Skid Row lyrics have taken on pretty weighty issues and dealt with relationships in more mature prose than most any other metal band.direction straight ahead! Whether on the hook-oriented opener, Disease, the aggressive Another Dick In The System, the catchy White Trash or the programmatic Shut Up Baby, I Love You - their unadulterated vitality seems to practically jump at the listener.It has the classic Bolan writing, Sollinger's vocals are solid, and the songs are memorable, but it's probably the least 'Skid Row' sounding album of the bands career. It doesn't compare by far to "Slave to the Grind" or "Thickskin." It's only comparable to "Subhuman Race" - Bas's final effort with the band - in that it has both the classic Skid Row sound.ohnny Solinger is a worthy successor and Bolan continues to write incredibly memorable songs with big riffs and metal sensibilities.

There are sixteen tracks including two remakes, "Someday We'll Be Free & Prince's How Come You Don't Call Me." These two were fine but I like her tunes far more. They range from slow, midtempo, to fast. "Fallin," is hands down the best song on the album & for me the best ballad since the Rolling Stones "Almost Here You Cry" from 1989's "Steel Wheels" album. "Fallin" should have been the number one song of 2001, not Christina Aguilera's screaming tune. "Fallin" has an Acapella intro & the violin of Miri Ben Ari that comes in with a smooth feeling. "A Womans Worth," has a satiny flow of lyrics as she tells her guy about her fine qualities & how she deserves to be treated. Grammy winning singer/songwriter, poet, philanthropist and visionary Alicia Keys proceeds to outdo herself with AS I AM, her third and finest album, to date.Keys is a classically-trained pianist

Sepultura - Schizophrenia is always overlooked for some reason. It isn't Beneath the Remains, Arise or Chaos A.D. or Roots but it manages to stand out on its own and it is easily worth the five stars think of Schizophrenia as the Slayer's Hell Awaits, or Anthrax's Spreading The Disease, or Metallica's Ride The Lightning. it is simply put, the prequel to their upcoming masterpiece. the best songs are definitely the new version of Troops Of Doom, and Escape From The Void.
The recording quality isn't that great,but neither was "Kill Em All".The true star of "Schizophrenia" is the then new guitarist Andreas Kisser.His solo on my personal favorite,"To The Wall",is unbelievable and secured his place as one the best metal guitarists ever.

Andreas Kisser the new lead guitarist for Sepultura and Jairo T.'s Replacement. This lineup change would lead Sepultura in the direction that would lead them out of the jungles of Brazil and onto the map as one of the best Thrash bands around.The lyrics content has matured; instead of songs about the antichrist we have songs about being taken advantage of by cops in To The Wall; which contains the best drum solo section on the album. Speaking of the drums, Igor has definitely improved and only got better with each album. Schizophrenia has a weird production to it that affects the tom drums in the most unusual manner. It sounds like Igor had left and briefly joined the blue man group only to return with a drum set made out of plastic pipes. Sepultura grew up somewhat from their primitive Death Metal albums Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions and released Schizophrenia which officially transferred them over into the realm of Thrash.

Sepultura's Roots went bravely where no other metal album had gone before. It mixed Afro-Brazilian drums and tribal rhytms/music with down tuned new metal guitar and death metal vocals. This 1996 album was also Sepultura's last with front man Max Cavalera; he would leave the group and go on to front a solo band, Soulfly. And, until 2004's "Prophecy," "Roots" was also more experimental than anything Max would make in Soulfly.

It's not the masterpiece people say it is. It was released at a great time, rivaling and overtaking most other musical accomplishments of 1996(metal, anyway). Slayer had just released their very own Spaghetti Incident?, Pantera made one big mess of album in Trendkill, and KoRn's abysmal follow-up Life Is Peachy was out too. Amidst this, Sepultura released Roots. If you compare it to Metallica's Load, well...we'll just leave it at that. Nonetheless, it lacks the flare of previous releases. Beneath The Remains was a classic, Arise was a masterpiece, and Chaos A.D. was experimental and brilliant

"Roots, Bloody Roots" is the first single, probably the heaviest song on "Roots," and is one of Sepultura's best known songs. It remains a staple of their live shows, and the success of this song has influenced some Soulfly songs (like "Prophecy.") Plus, Max has even adopted this song as his own, and played it during some Soulfly concerts. The album opens with the sound of crickets chirping, then this song launches into heavy, de-tuned guitar bluster. These guitars, which make a heavy churning and humming noise, are a big part of why this song is so heavy and catchy (even though there are some good vocal hooks, here, too). I enjoy how the beat comes down, then Max comes out of no where to let out one of his loud, ascending yells.
"Attitude" features guitars which are at first flamenco, then punching and pounding.
"Ratamahatta" is the song with the Brazilian tribe. It begins with what sounds like maracas and tribal drums. The guitars kick in and there's some catchy, aggressive scat in the background. The verses on this song are soft and restrained, making a good friction between the verses and heavy choruses.
"Breed Apart" has tin drums at the beginning, before turning to chunky, chug and churn guitars and vocals that alternate from supple growling to raging yells. The Jew's harp comes aboard and plays briefly over the beat, and the song ends with some static-sounding white noise.
"Spit" starts with (what sounds like) guitar feedback and some distant yelling (of "Un, dos, tres, cua!") The crunchy guitars eventually come to the front, and there are a few more of Max's heavy yells.
"Lookaway" has an instrument that could be a flute and a catchy drum beat, followed by DJ scratching (compliments of DJ Lethal-a DJ who would later join Limp Bizkit). Even though there are some guitars, this song's pace is about half as fast as the others. Two guest vocalists, Faith No More's Mike Patton and Korn's Jonathan Davis, make an appearance and sing/whisper over distant, dreary, ghost-like noises.
"Dusted" begins with a banging of the drum sticks, then the guitarists (Andreaas Kisser and Max Cavalera) make some of the heaviest and fastest guitar riffs since track one.
"Born Stubborn" has a beeping guitar noise which becomes increasingly fast and heavy, but some more tribal drums and Brazilian chants are tossed in near the end.
"Itsari" mixes more South American chants and maracas with acoustic guitar strums and soft hand percussion.
"Ambush" is highlighted by a nice breakdown of heavy, groove-y guitars, which comes after the song veers into soft, serene territory. It's not thrash metal, so don't expect vintage Sepultura here. Try to enjoy the experience. Roots truly kick started nu-metal, and opened the world to tribal metal. If you don't like it, check out Chaos A.D. for a thrashier approach, and Arise, Beneath, and Schizo for intense, brutal, aural insanity.It has elements of trash and death metal but the experimentation with tribal rythms and instruments is starting to have more presence

ramones - Road to Ruin.this is The Ramones fourth album is another their classic album. "Road To Ruin" found the Ramones breaking the limits set by the first three albums, with a variety of instruments, solos and songs that broke the three minute mark. There was even an incredible ballad, the heartbreaking "Questioningly." The Ramones not only wanted the world, they wanted to be taken seriously.

While their drummer Tommy was replaced by Marky on this album, but Tommy was still around as the group's producer. The group's sound "matured" somewhat on this album, but still stayed true to their punk roots. Just about all the songs here are classics, with "I Wanna Be Sedated" being a classic among classics. The CD has five bonus tracks. Their isn't a single bad song on "Road To Ruin." It may have taken a few years to raise the amazing "I Wanna Be Sedated" to classic radio status, but better late than never. "She's The One," "Go Mental" and Joey's unbeatable cover of "Needles and Pins" should have all been hits, but radio in 1978 was still all about "D'ya Think I'm Sexy."

ramones - Leave Home is The Ramones' second album was cut from the same leather as their debut with a crucial difference. They were getting better fast. That meant the songs were still as sharp and as bitingly funny, but the playing and production were clearer this time around. There was the classic bombast blast of short songs, and "Leave Home" provides a chock-load of classics. You get "Gimmee Gimmee Shock Treatment," "Suzy Is A Headbanger," "Commando" and the bangin' rave-up cover of "California Sun." The band shows its affinity with classic pop by twisting girl-group pop iIt features one Ramones classic after another. "Pinhead", "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment", "I Remember You" and on and on. The CD includes "Carbona Not Glue", which was removed from the original album after the first pressing, at the request of the manufacturers of Carbona. It was replaced by the single version of "Sheena is a Punk Rock" in the US, and "Babysitter" in the UK. "Babysitter" is included here, but "Sheena is a Punk Rocker" is not. That is unfortunate, because the version of this album that I grew up with featured "Sheena is a Punk Rocker" on it. The CD also features a complete 30 minute concert from August 1976 in Los Angeles.nto "You're Gonna Kill That Girl" and mutating surf music into "Oh Oh I Love Her So."

Killers has two instrumentals which include "Genghis Khan". This song really flies! Drummer Clive Burr beats the heck out of the cymbals on this one."Killers" is a metal classic. It's not quite as good as the debut, and definitely not as good as "Brave New World", but it's certainly a worthy addition to your collection
Killers - I have not to say unless..this song perfect and best...
Murders In The Rue Morgue - The thing about Maiden was that they were literate. A song written about the Edgar Allan Poe short story, was this thinking man's metal? Sure. The intro is slow and haunting, and then it cranks.
Ides Of March - Cool little intro instrumental into the next song. Maiden sounds so much more polished here on Killers than they did on the raw effort of their debut. The production by Martin Birch has stepped up a notch or three. Great little show off piece.Wrathchild - A great metal song. The bass line is so cool. Harris totally rules. Heavy. DiAnno's vocals are blunt and brutal. Sheer metal goodness. Great song! Coming to get you.....

I prefer "Transylvania", from the debut, but both are excellent. Many songs on here are now considered classics, like "Wrathchild", "Purgatory", and the title track. But it doesn't stop there. The lesser-known songs are just as good, such as "Drifter", "Twilight Zone", and the ballad "Prodigal Son". It's just perfect. Adrian Smith makes his debut here, and thus the legend begins.Another Life - The begining is cool with Clive on drums and the wailing riff. A straightforward rocker. DiAnno's vocals sound so much more refined on this outing. Exciting.Genghis Kahn - is more epic with lots of tasty guitar work and Great little instrumental that becomes just a tad bit mechanical towards the middle. These guy meshed so well as musicians, however, and it showed here. Harris shines.

Innocent Exile - The Steve Harris intro is awesome. Prodigal Son - Smooth, flowing song. After the all-out assault of Killers, this is a much needed break from the slamming metal. If Killers is said to have a soft spot, then Prodigal Son would be it. The song is good, just not as exciting as the rest of the album. The vocals are reminiscent of Strange World, where they phase out DiAnno's voice. Still a solid song. Just not Maiden's best.Purgatory - This song sounds like the polished version of something left over from the first album. It shreds and it's metal, but it sounds like it may belong with Sanctuary or Prowler.Twilight Zone - This songs is very often over-looked. DiAnno's voice gets very strange here to the point where he sounds almost exactly like Klaus Meine from Scorpions. Weird. I always liked this song. It's straight Maiden. Like Purgatory, it may have been another leftover from the first album. Metal!Drifter - Loose and moody. This is Maiden just being Maiden. Sounds like an impromptu song the way it goes this way and that. Shredding section in the middle. The main riff is the Maiden signature sound. The lyrics aren't very memorable, however, so it becomes another weak spot on a very nearly perfect album.

The album Piece of mind from Iron maiden I think this is The Greatest Metal Album Of All Time.They have the most popular Maiden lineup of Bruce Dickinson (vocals), Dave Murray (guitar), Adrian Smith (guitar), Steve Harris (bass), and Nicko McBrain (drums). Nicko is the newest addition here, coming from the french band Trust. This album also stands out because of the production. Songs like 'Flight of Icarus' and 'To Tame a Land' have an epic nature about them that is brought out by the professionalism of the recording.The more popular songs here are 'Where Eagles Dare' (which is based off a movie), 'Flight of Icarus,' 'Revelations,' and 'The Trooper,' the last of which is the most famous, and take it from a guitarist - It's fun to play

Every composition on Piece Of Mind broke ground, and the album as a whole could not have been written by any other band. Piece of Mind is one of those records that always seemed to be not unlike an anthology of self-contained, yet vaguely related stories. When reading the acknowledgments, it comes as no surprise that the band thanks Alistair MacLean and Frank Herbert for the inspiration that their novels brought to their work.Iron Maiden Piece of Mind is an amazing album with not a single weak track. Of course, some songs are still better than others, and those are veritably deserving metal classics.

"Somewhere in Time" marked a slight change in style and feel in Iron Maiden.By the time "Somewhere in Time" came out in 1986,Bruce Dickinson wanted to take a different direction and do an acoustic album. What really got me interested was that Adrian Smith was going to take a lead role in some of the songwriting. With having a hand writing songs such as "The Prisoner," "The Flight of Icarus," "22 Arcacia Avenue," and "2 Minutes to Midnight,"

"Somewhere in Time" features 8 great track, each better than the one before it. Listen to "Alexander the Great" and ask yourself if any other band at the height of their popularity would have been able to put that song on a cd. The guitar riff on "Wasted Years" will be running through your head all day, and you will be humming the chorus of "Heaven Can Wait" for a long time. This is a great album, from a band that always brought a little more to the table than just catchy rock anthems."Alexander the Great" as an attempt to recapture the lyrical magic of Powerslave's "Rime of the Ancient Mariner." Musically, it's interesting, but lyrically, it fell flat. Coleridge's epic poem translated much better to music than Plutrarch's history.Although a slightly different feel to Iron Maiden's usual, "Somewhere in Time" is something every fan should have in their collection.

Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son.Now we arrive in 1988 when Maiden decided to take the progressiveness even further to an epic level. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son takes its style from Hemispheres era Rush and fuses it with Iron Maiden's early sound creating a masterful concept album. It follows the story of a cursed child who is born with special powers and it tempted by the side of both good and evil.The music is brilliant, with acoustical guitar, keyboards and other additions to transform Maiden's sound. In retrospect, Seventh Son was the last great Maiden album. Instead of being a stepping stone to more Maiden innovations, it proved to be Iron Maiden peak.

There are certainly no shortages of guitar parts here. Dave and Adrian are playing dual guitar solos as great as ever, but unfortunately Adrian departs after this album, which started a chain of progressively worse Maiden albums until the dawn of the new millennium arrived.
Moonchild- Starts off with an acoustic passage giving this album's theme and then it builds into a fast rocker. Great usage of keyboards in the background. Bruce's vocals are very aggressive here
Infinite Dreams- This one may take time for fans to get used to as it alternates between a softer and harder section. Great song though.
Can I Play With Madness- A short commercial rocker similar to the previous album's Wasted Years. I understand that this track was played to death back in the day (though I'm much more inclined to believe that # Of The Beast and 2 Minutes To Midnight got overplayed if anything), but it's still an excellent song nonetheless
The Evil That Men Do- Another phenomenal rocker. I didn't like it at first because the chorus got rather tedious to listen to, but it does grow on you. A noteworthy gem
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son- IRON MAIDEN TACKLES THE 10-MINUTE PROGRESSIVE EPIC CHALLENGE, and They've done it before with Rhyme Of The Ancient Mariner and Alexander The Great, but this is the first time in which they create the story themselves
The Prophecy- Some say that this track is the worst on the album, but I have to disagree. While it's certainly not one of the best Maiden songs, it does stand out quite a bit, as the band has never done anything that sounds quite like it up to this album, and for that the song deserves credit
The Clairvoyant- A MASTERPIECE! Of the more commercial progressive styled rockers on the album, this track shines far above the rest
Only The Good Die Young- This song would tie with The Prophecy as far as good songs on the album go, but unfortunately unlike The Prophecy, this one fails to really stand out at all. Still decent though. It ends with the same acoustic passage as the intro of Moonchild.
Seventh Son was the last great Maiden album. Instead of being a stepping stone to more Maiden innovations, it proved to be Maiden's peak. Things seemed to go down hill after this record, with Adrian Smith and Dickinson eventually leaving to work on their own projects.

"Powerslave" is Iron Maiden's best album, or if you like "Beast" or "Piece of Mind" or any one of their other albums better, you have to respect Iron Maiden for what they accomplished with "Powerslave".

Iron Maiden's "Powerslave" was to metal.The killer chorus of "2 Minutes to Midnight" has another fast, catchy riff and two melodic solos. This song is really a highlight, though, because the chorus is a shout-along, the great guitar track of "Flash of the Blade, the cool "Egyptian" sound to the title cut, of the epic "Rime of the Ancient Mariner". There was something here for every metal fan. Iron Maiden has made a career out of defying the norm, and in a time when most bands were riding the metal-pop wave, writing songs about Girls..Girls..Girls, or Talking Dirty to Me with "Aces High". "Powerslave" is about Egyptian mythology and has mostly galloping riffs. It slows down for the middle, when there are two wailing solos, but it turns back to the galloping beat near the end.

Iron maiden's first classic.Iron Maiden's third album and their first to feature their longest-running singer, the great Bruce Dickinson. Circa 1982: freshly out of his former band Samson, Dickinson would replace Maiden's original singer Paul Di'Anno,Bruce Dickinson is one of metal's best singers.Steve Harris, songwriter/backing vocalist also is one of the most talented bassists.Dave Murray and Adrian Smith they are efinitely one of the most perfect guitar duos out there.And Clive Burr is a highly underrated drummer.

"Invaders" is a fast-paced, attention-getting opener. It tells the tale of a Viking invasion upon a Nordic village, I think. The drums thunder like a thousand running feet, the bass and guitars like cries of fear and fury."Children of the Damned," I'm not so sure what this one's about. It starts off kind of slow and has great guitar work from Smith and Murray, and slowly gets more up-beat, but then in the bridge of the song."The Prisoner" has a little sample from the sci-fi sitcom of the same name, then breaks into a mid-tempo beat that is simply infectious for foot-tapping. Then it speeds up so suddenly and without warning, with a sweeping, powerful instrumental thrust. Dickinson snarls and barks out the tale of a man in prison who has one thing in mind: getting out. Very catchy chorus, too."22 Acacia Avenue," another faced-paced track, is a fable of a prostitution house and how truly insane and upside-down one could be. While the song is excellent and I could be stuck on a deserted island with it, it is probably one of my lesser-favorites.

"The Number of the Beast"..., the source for many a parent's apprehensions that their kids are listening to bad music. A streamlined and fast-paced tale of a man's encounter with an unholy cult performing a Satanic ritual, yes - but by no means promoting Satanism; rather, this takes a fearful outlook upon such practices, as the narrator within the song is trying to get away...but ultimately, unsuccessfully. After an eerie intro by the late Vincent Price, the atmospheric guitar riffs kick in, with Dickinson's worried-sounding vocals coming in with a now-classic opening line: "I left alone...my mind was blank..." The solos in the bridge of the song dazzle, and the little gap between them is amazing in itself as the pace slows down, then picks up again for a huge "shebang!" Parents may still want their kids to avoid a song that has "666" in the chorus, but regardless, this is one of Maiden's best.

"Run to the Hills" this time tells the story of the white settlers that came to this land we now call America, and as they mercilessly hunted down and slew the natives and deals with the troubles the American Indians had. The beginning drum beats lead into a great trio of guitars and bass, and then Dickinson comes in with his furies snarls. Then, like many Maiden songs, the song suddenly picks up pace and fires off into a blistering, galloping juggernaut.It is probably the catchiest and most famous song on here"Gangland" is yet another uptempo piece, this time focusing on living in the more ghetto side of town, and the fears of going outside, for the gangs might get you. Rather violent and up-in-your-face lyrics, too. Like "22 Acacia Avenue," one of my lesser favorites, but still a masterpiece.this song very catchy too.
"Total Eclipse" is a prophetic tale of nature taking revenge upon mankind for our decades of causing such damage to her. It starts off with mid-tempo, fairly heavy riffs that are like thunder in the sky, and then builds up the pace a little. Dickinson's vocals are at their most furious here, I think.

And then there's "Hallowed Be Thy Name," the ultimate masterpiece on this album.which has an main riff that has been ripped off by such bands as Papa Roach. A nice solo is included here, as well.This is the tale of a man's final hours as he is on death row and waiting for his time. The massive bridge is breathtaking with its powerful time changes and solos...and with the subject matter, this song is an excellent choice for an album closer.

The Rolling Stones - Hot Rocks 1964-1971

The Rolling Stones - Hot Rocks best collection album.Hot Rocks is one of the rare exceptions to the rule. Originally released in 1972 .You will find all the Rolling Stones retrospective songs is accounted for--Get Off Of My Cloud, Paint It Black, Let's Spend The Night Together, Gimme Shelter, Jumping' Jack Flash, Street Fighting Man, Sympathy For The Devil, a live cut of Midnight Rambler, and of course, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction. Although this will not satisfy die hard fans and I wish a few other songs were included (Stray Cat Blues, the Ya-Ya version of Carol, Sister Morphine, She's A Rainbow, 2000 Man) everything here is grade-A gritty blues rock.Hot Rocks does a good job of capturing the rolling stones.

Linkin Park - Minutes to Midnight

Linkin Park They have changed in Minutes to Midnight, and the metamorphosis isn't a positive one.This album lacks the heavyweight that characterized its predecessors. Most of the tracks are soft. Gone is the Points of Authority style headbanging except maybe that guitar solo part of What I've Done.Undoubtedly, this album is the type that grows each time you play it, but it simply doesn't do what fans of the band wanted it to do and seems I've always preferred Chester's raspy vocals to Shinoda's rapping, but he's so underutilized on this album that you realize that he's an integral part to the Linkin Park sound MC Mike Shinoda drops the two best verses of his career, blending vocal styles with singer Chester Bennington for a moving song piece.Mike Shinoda's rapping presence is minimal.The fusion of his rapping and Chester's vocals combined with excellent beats and melodies makes the band.

this album is the type that grows each time you play it, but it simply doesn't do what fans of the band wanted it to do. There are a few hints of where the band has been but I must admit that their intent to sound different did not produce good results.This change was not a welcome one, and anyone who loved the first two albums may doubt with this Linkin Park - Minutes to Midnight

Metallica - Death Magnetic

Heavy and thrash y.And seems Unlike "Load" and "Reload", "Death Magnetic" avoids the bluesy, dirty grinding songs, and unlike "St. Anger" this one aims for strong hooks, harmonies structure and flow. Metallica attempts to win back their old fans while retaining their new ones. This CD ought to hold most everyone's attention, at least initially.

However "Death Magnetic" is not a new Master but rather a culmination of everything these guys have every done. While many songs will remind listeners of "Justice" "Broken, Beat and Scarred" is reminiscent of "St. Anger" with its chants of "what don't kill ya, makes ya more strong" and riffing rather than solos.It's packed with amazing scorching solos that will just pummel your eardrums in rhythmic fashion. It's heavy and progressive, lots of long instrumentals carried by some pounding drumbeats. The kind of stuff that will scare old people. With their first radio release The Day That Never Comes, there are some grating guitar riffs that are undeniably borrowed from the song One. Maybe not too original, but it sounds excellent. Lyrically, the rage and rebellious spirit is still there, maybe slightly less convincing than the younger days but still well written.

All in all, this is a very solid effort. Metallica attempts to win back their old fans while retaining their new ones but expect reaction to it to be very mixed. The part of the Metallica fan base who will enjoy this the most are those who liked ...And Justice For All and The Black Album.

Dream Theater - Falling Into Infinity

All I know is that everyone in Dream Theater is a tremendously gifted musician, and despite the difficulties they made a fine album with Falling Into Infinity.And as we obviously know that John Petrucci, John Myung, and Mike Portnoy are incredible musicians.They bring "Take Away My Pain" is another ballad, and another beautiful song that I loved.This was the turning-the-clock-around album for Dream Theater. Mike Portnoy said that this album nearly killed Dream Theater because the record company wanted them to make a commercial album.Mike Portnoy says that the recording of Falling Into Infinity almost broke the band up. Pressures from their record company to make a commercially appealing album were teeming here, evidenced by some very commercial rock songs and some standard ballads. I despise it when a record company tells you what to do, but Dream Theater compromised.This album has gotten a lot of negative response because, apparently, it's their commercial album. Well, don't take that too seriously, because aside from a few weaker songs this album is frigging amazing.

It is known also as "the Black Album" , Metallica marks the group's entrance into the mainstream, with shorter songs, simpler song structures, and slower tempos overall. That said, this is an excellent album, featuring some of the best songwriting Metallica has ever done. "Enter Sandman," "Wherever I May Roam," and "God That Failed," despite being slower and more groove-oriented than the band's earlier work, feature the same heavy riffs and heavier rhythms that have always been a feature of Metallica's music.The songs are full of crunch and vitriol, and the two ballads ("Unforgiven", "Nothing Else Matters") are very emotional and melodic."The Unforgiven". This is one of the best ballads ever, with very emotional lyrics and a great vocal performance from James Hetfield.

Metallica's breakthrough album, the Black album. This is what put Metallica into the mainstream, and it is indeed a masterpeice. Every song on this on is a classic. The talent is all there. The production is crystal clear. Everything about this album is epic.Jason Newsted also gets a chance to prove himself on this one. As a bassist, I believe his bass lines on the slower songs to showcase his talent the most. He packs a lot of emotion, especially in Nothing Else Matters.The Black Album was still Metallica to most of us, and it wouldn't be until the release of the ever-strange "Load" album that fans would learn to appreciate Metallica's

Metallica - Ride the Lightning

This is Metallica's second album, 1984's "Ride the Lightning,"the song "Creeping Death" is another thrash gem, which features Hammet in full force at lead guitar. It is a haunting and powerful track that also has a lot of diversity in chorus and overall structure. The album rounds out with a song based on the Lovecraft mythos in the famous "The Call of Ktulu". You will see the spelling of Ktulu vary from Metallica's to Lovecraft's and other sources as well.

This track starts out with a melodic guitar pace that dances along a doom laden sound scape before revving up into an aggressive assault of guitars that progresses further on with the original intro's riffs. Louder and louder it climbs and eventually you are hearing a masterful instrumental track that clocks in at over eight minutes long. This was also the first instrumental in which all the members played together, giving it that much more power.

"Ride the Lightning has a great opening riff by Hammet that is heard off and on throughout the song. The songwriting on this album is superb as we can clearly hear the story of the electric chair's recipient being played out before us. The gothic "For Whom the Bell Tolls" is stoic as it gongs an old church bell at the beginning of the song, which quickly leads into a wide range of guitar work.

The music is great, but the lyrics can haunt you if you're not careful.-"Disposable Heroes": while I may like their later song "One" better in terms of the lyrical device of the soldier's point of view, I still give this one credit since it came first, and let's face it...everything on this album kicks serious parse, including this one.-"Leper Messiah" and"Orion": great instrumental, with a militaristic march that echoes the grandeur of Wagner, but without being oppressive. This is something for the Metal Militia to use as a war cry."Damage Inc.": while my favorites song on this album is "Fade to Black" in its progression of intensity. It starts with haunting melodies, turning up the crunch for the chorus, then kicks into high gear with a weighty, fast riff and a glistening lead that carries the song to its vengeful apogee. Hetfield isn't quite a master lyricist.

In 1994, Dream Theater released their heaviest album to date, "Awake". It's also possibly their best. Well, either way, this album is amazing, and if you're a fan of Dream Theater it's obviously a must.
As time progressed this is not a Dream Theater album for beginners, because of how heavy it is, but even if it is a first, you may might like it in the end. It was, after all, my first, and now they're one of my favorite bands. Regardless, this is a must for any Dream Theater fan. A dark, overlooked masterpiece.While lyrics deal with addiction, betrayal, love, hate, a veritable collage of human emotions. This album has some of their heaviest riffs, and some of their most beautiful melodies. "6:00", while not their best song, is one of their most aggressive, and indeed a great way to start off an album like this. "The Mirror" and "Lie" are a great one-two punch of crunchy riffs, and great lyrics and vocals.

All the anger and sadness they held in on the death of bassist Cliff Burton was unleashed on the record buying public.

"One" is one of Metallica's best songs ever! It begins as a power ballad, but it subtly and greatly gains momentum, volume, and speed, and around four and a half minutes in (during the bridge after the third chorus), The tale of a soldier who has stepped on a land mine and now is an armless, legless, and blind vegetable. You can almost hear the desperation, the pain and the fury of being hooked up to a life support machine in Hetfield's vocal performance. The track goes from heavy ballad to out- and-out thrash with a deft flick of the wrist. Kirk's searing lead break and Ulrich's machine gun drumming compliment the tune perfectly.the thunderous double bass drumming and almost machine gun riffs make the song heavy.

The abrupt change of pace in the track's middle only goes to prove what an impressive drummer Lars Ulrich can be. Kirk Hammet's lead solo incredibly shows an improvement since the `Master of Puppets' album. An intelligent update of the `Ride the Lightning' leadoff track, `Fight Fire With Fire'.Unfortunately for new boy bassist Jason Newsted, the house producer Fleming Rasmussen buries his contributions way into the mix, so it sometimes sounds like he's absent.

However This album is considered by many fans to be this band's best. Like Metallica's first three and fifth albums, "...And Justice for All" is a classic from beginning to end, and it's worth buying just for the singles ("Blackened," "Harvester of Sorrow," the title track, "Frayed Ends of Sanity," and, especially, one of Metallica's best songs ever--"One.")

Metallica album "Kill `Em All" is the sound of original thrash metal.Since this is the first available album that James, Kirk, Lars, and Cliff played together, it is somewhat immature.The original Metallica: James Hetfield (Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Cliff Burton (Bass Guitar), Lars Ulrich (Drums) AND DAVE MUSTAINE (LEAD GUITAR)!!! Most of the leads and riffs you'll hear on Kill 'Em All were written by Dave Mustaine which is why the 1st Metallica album sounds more like a Megadeth record than any other Metallica record.Even though it may not be the best representation of Metallica, and it's not as classic or essential as Metallica's second and third albums, it's still a great listen and it is very highly recommend for all metalheads

Kill 'Em All is a flawless rundown of Metallica classics from The Four Horsemen to Motorbreath to Seek and Destroy, the riffs just keep coming.And "Kill `Em All" is still a very entertaining listen and great thrash. It may not be as brutal or rapid as say Slayer, but it's very catchy and full of fiery, breakneck-speed, buzz saw guitar riffs and scorching solos.

My favorites song in this album is "Seek & Destroy" has another very famous opening guitar melody, before it turns to crunchy riffs. This song is, musically, fairly repetitive, but it's still plenty catchy.

Linkin Park - Meteora

This linkin park album is a lot less fluid and rap influenced than "Hybrid Theory."so this album "Meteora" is dancer, with more real singing and there sure is a lot more yelling.They may not have the most complex guitar out there and their songs are very structurally similar, but really, Linkin Park's "Hybrid Theory" was one of the catchiest, most energetic, and innovative album.

"Somewhere I Belong" has a good intro which leads into the guitars. The first single of Meteora pretty good rapping with good DJ scratches, but I must have heard this song too much or something, because now I hardly listen to anything past two minutes into the song sounds like it was constructed from the ground up to be a radio hit in the vein of In The End. That said, the interesting sampling and really beautiful piano part make this track a very memorable in its own right.
"Lying from You" has another good intro sample laced guitar riffs and thunderous vocals make this one of the most mammoth tracks on the album, then explodes into the guitars. There are some good, swirling riffs and a couple of good DJ scratches on this song.
"Hit the Floor" grind well Hit The Floor features some spectacular samples, skull crushing riffs and screaming, and some real tricky rapping from Mike Shinoda.the bridge, and the chorus has the same sort of weirdly catchy syncopation as By Myself while "Easier to Run" boasts an irresistible,Everything about this track smacks of an ill fated attempt to recapture the awesome grandeur off their old single, "Crawling". Though the rapping part is alright sing along chorus with soaring vocals. All of which would've made this song a good single. Most of the songs on this C.D. are centered around a similar, big and catchy chorus.
"Faint" begins with what sounds like almost an orchestra, then turns to a typical rap/rock song. The rap on this one is smoothe and the yelling parts are towering, but what I enjoy most on this song is the catchy drum beat and the way the guitars start and stop.
However, there are some "Hybrid Theory"-Esquire moments:
"Breaking the Habit" is a personal favorite. It's a techno cut,A really weird sample, featuring Spanish guitar, live orchestra making it a lot less noisy than all the other songs. The vocals are calmly sung over the soft strings, a repeating drum beat and DJ scratching.Even though it's techno, because it's very nearly danceable.
"Nobody's Listening" is more of a straight forward rap song,A cool hip-hop track with some unique flute samples, clips of High Voltage with another good chorus, while "Session" is An awesome instrumental which echoes "Cure for the Itch".the layering of sounds and seriously wicked dj solo make this far better than any of Linkin Park's past instrumentals. This song again shows us how talented the DJ (Joseph Hahn) is.with "Meteora", it's also safe to say that the guitars are very much involved.

Metallica - Load

Metallica has such a successfully realised metal sound, and their four 1980s albums are all fantastic. Those records are masterpieces.LOAD era is a different animal altogether, and Metallica were trying to find a new sonic identity. They still feeling their way into the new artistic direction.Load is released to perplexed fans. "Cut hair, pimp suits, goth makeup in their music videos? What? This is not Metallica!" And in a way, it wasn't.

Load does have an alternative sound, so it appeals to more of the general population I think Metallica were forced to make an album like "Load," because they had to evolve and change their sound. It's what bands do; it's how the listener is able to discern between albums!If you think "Load" marked the end of Metallica, then you're not a true fan. This isn't Metallica's best work, but it's really not half bad

Well I think this is NOT a bad album. The wisely chosen, up-tempo single "Ain't My B -tch," the bluesy "2 X 4," "Until It Sleeps," and "King Nothing"are all quite catchy. Plus, "Until It Sleeps" kind of sounds like a "Black Album" b-side and "King Nothing" has a nice Hammett solo. Other standout tracks are "Bleeding Me" (which, even though is an overly long song, gradually gains momentum and has another cool guitar solo), "Mama Said" (which is a ballad with soft, acoustic strumming), "Wasting My Hate" and "Thorn Within" are like the first track because they have semi-heavy riffs, and the opening part of "Ronnie" is a worthy of a toe-tapping.

Not very good for their standard, but still a good song; all about betrayal

begins with what sounds like a piano (making a "ding dong" sound) and swift rap. By the end, however, it's the same old Linkin Park One of the best nu-metal songs ever. Rapped and rocked in various spots morphs into a rock song with normal, elongated singing.

Hybrid Theory plays as a complete album, there are no throw away tracks here.Linkin Park are a great new band who do what they do as good or better than anybody else.Linkin Park uses two vocalists, one singing and one rapping along with a dj and the results are spectacular Mike Shinoda handles the rapping while Chester Bennington does the singing/crooning and yelling over the hard choruses. That's another reason why this album is so good.

A classic.Guitar god Satriani's 1989 release "Flying in a Blue Dream" is just outstanding.He just rocks from the beginning to the end of the disc. He also uses different styles for his songs. There are serious "I Believe," and humorous "The Phone Call." He's a decent singer, but obviously it's at guitar shredding that he really shines.The title track is one of Joe's best songs he's ever done. Joe's guitar playing is bone chilling and beautiful

It is No doubt Joe Satriani is the greatest rock guitarists of all time. He influenced as many guitarists as he was influenced by, and manages to set the standard for creativity and technical prowess in the world of instrumental guitar rock. When this album was released back in '87, it was unique and unlike anything else being played at the time. Sure, guitar-shredding was fairly popular, with technicians like Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony MacAlpine, and Vinnie Moore receiving due credit in the world of neoclassical rock, but there was little variation between these artists and their lightning-speed scales, arpeggios and classically inspired licks.

Surfing With the Alien was Joe's first successful record, and after listening to it just once you'll understand why. Joe eschews needless self-indulgence like most 'guitar heroes' and just plays rocking songs with interesting melodies.This album showcases a brilliant musician at the height of his powers and is probably his best album; at the very least, it's my favourite work of his as it manages to show the versatility and technical proficiency of Joe in 10 fabulous tracks.What I like about Joe as well is his great humility and generosity. He doesn't keep what he knows to himself like a trade secret but he openly shares his knowledge and is a great guitar teacher. He's had Steve Vai and Kirk Hammett among his long list of admirers and students and he continues to inspire guitar enthusiasts and dummy guitarists like myself after all these years.

It was released on the legendary indie label Sub Pop.Nirvana's debut album "Bleach" met with little fanfare upon its release in 1989.Released on the seminal Seattle label, Sub Pop, the album is an impressive work. Kurt Cobain was a troubled young man and his conflicts, fears and angst drove his music. Bleach has a much heavy grunge sound to it than their subsequent releases, but it still has the crisp melodies that separated the band from the rest of the grunge artists.

"Bleach" is grunge in its truest sense-distorted guitars, fuzz, feedback etc.Songs like "About A Girl", "Negative Creep" and "Blew" have almost pop sensibilities but unlike most happy, sunny pop songs, the lyrics about hurt, obsession, betrayal.While the songs aren't as tightly written as those on "Nevermind" and "In Utero," it's still a fine collection of well-crafted songs. Most of the songs are powerful barrages of machine gun guitars and stinging feedback.At the height of hair-metal, few outside the Seattle underground scene had heard of the band, much less the word "grunge."

When I consider reviewing anthologies, collections and so on, I generally look for a few points, namely does this serve as a good introduction for a listener and putting aside personal preference, is this representative of what the collection seeks to accomplish? "The Electric Joe Satriani" seeks to cover a 20 year career on 2CDs. It focuses on the studio material, meaning nine albums worth of material and one track on an EP, includes one unreleased piece and one track that was a bonus on a Japanese release. The samples pulled from each of his studio albums is quite good and adequately represent each studio work. The older tracks are indeed remastered here. Joe is my favorite instrumentalist by far and my favorite guitar hero too.

50 cent famous because of Eminem and because for some reason psychologists have yet to explain, there are those who consider drugs, gangs, mistreatment of women and violence. He is yet another young man from a whole generation of fatherless, poor, angry men. While he preaches about poverty, his violent past, the glory of gangs and contempt of women, he travels between his multimillion dollar homes with body guards, lawyers, PR guys and groupies.Back to his album "In My Hood" gets the album off to a solid start, it's a typical 50 Cent hood song and has a great beat by C. Styles & Bang Out. Overall it's good, but it's nothing special (although the Saxophone part that closes the track is real nice). "This Is 50" has a pretty grimy beat, but 50's drawl at the end of every line seems all too formulaic, taking a page right out of "Blood Hound" from "Get Rich...". It could easily grow on the listener though. Lyrically 50 copies his previous effort again with "I'm Supposed To Die Tonight" (aka "Many Men" Pt. II). That being said it's one of the better tracks on the album with Eminem's production being the perfect marriage for the 50's subject matter.

Led Zeppelin showed that they had more than just a heavy metal side. Led Zeppelin III has an acoustic based, earthy sound and in most places finds the band in a mellow mood. "Immigrant Song" opens the album with a driving kick that belies what will follow. The only original member left is lead singer Mike Tramp and this album is still good, the new versions are different and should be heard as new songs and not compared with the original versions. Anyway, at least Mike Tramp is trying to put out music again. He should get a new band and new songs though, and see what happens.
Actually Remembering White Lion It's not White Lion. It's not Vito Bratta. It's Mike Tramp singing the old White lion songs all on his own. The only thing Remembering White Lion has in common with White Lion is that their singer Mike Tramp 'tried' to re-record them on his own, without the rest of the band. And, this shows. The music on this CD does not in any way resemble what guitarist Vito Bratta and vocalist Mike Tramp wrote together back 15 years ago.I can understand why so many people are disappointed with it, but I still think it was great to hear these classics again after all these years.

The Best of White Lion' is a fantastic collection from a band that, while they teased their hair as high as anyone, actually carried musical chops that were rare within the genre.Vito Bratta was, at one point, considered the heir apparent to Eddie Van Halen as THE metal guitarist.This is a decent collection that includes most of what it should. "Wait" and "When The Children Cry" seem to be the most popular, but I also really like "Tell Me", "Little Fighter", and "Farewell To You". Their cover of "Radar Love" is good too. Overall it's a great bunch of songs, and will go perfectly with your "Great White" and "Whitesnake" album.While Vito displayed a technical proficiency that garnered enormous respect for him. That respect hasn't faded away, even though Vito himself seems to have. Greg D'Angelo could pound the skins with the best of anyone at that time, and James Lomenzo's bass playing rounded out the rhythm section. Mike Tramp added a very distinct vocal style, helping to complete the band's unique sound.

Dream Theater's new album is definitely their heaviest since "Awake", if not ever. It's mostly good, and I like it better than their last album, "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence". It's less experimental, Progressive rock metal bands. By being the number one progressive band in the world they have been anointed to carry the torch throuand a more straight-forward sounding progressive metal album.There's pros and cons to the heavier, more aggressive sound on this album. There's definitely a lack of great melodies, especially during the instrumental sections, which instead of interesting melodic lines, they are pretty much just going up and down scales.Dream Theater is the most visible, most revered and best known of all gh the dark passages of mundane popular music. Though they are not my personal favorite Progressive band.

"Any Time At All" has John assuring a girl that "Anytime at all, all you gotta do is call and I'll be there.
9. I'll Cry Instead
"I'll Cry Instead" has that late 50's sound the Beatles were used to covering in their early days. I detect a melody similar to the Stones' "19th Nervous Breakdown" in some parts
10. Things We Said Today
"Things We Said Today", another Paul number, is a reflective but mid-paced number distinctive in having that opening guitar riff that repeats itself after Paul finishes the chorus.

The last three songs are all John songs: there's a kind of stomping rhythm in "When I Get Home", "You Can't Do That" is one of those jealous man songs that would figure later in Rubber Soul--e.g. "Run For Your Life". This album is probably his best together with Pride.Songs like Goin' Home Tonight, Little Fighter, Cry for Freedom and the cover of Golden Earring's Radar Love are some of the best White Lion songs ever.

It begins with their 1st single "Love Me Do", has the essentials like "Yesterday" (the most covered Beatles tune in history), "A Hard Day's Night", "She Loves You", "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" (their 1st single in America), "Eleanor Rigby" (the beginning of their experimental phase), "Help!" (which was literally John's plea for help), and "In My Life". I've been a fan of Joe satriani music since listened Surfing with the Alien from my brother, and he turned me onto the whole burgeoning genre of instrumental rock, my exploration of which continues to this day through Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Liquid Tension Experiment, Bozzio,Levin,Stevens, Greg Howe,Paul gilbert,Balawan ,Tohpati,Dewa Budjana,Faizal Reza,Ahmad Dhani,lisianova and too many others to mention. I have all of his discs, and I always look forward to his new releases with great anticipation. I have seen him live on three different occasions. So my review is a comparison of this release to his other works as well as to those other artists I mentioned.This release starts off with the great melodies we all love Joe for, and the monotonous rhythm tracks we always pray will magically disappear. It's a mixed blessing. One of my favorite Joe CDs is his self-titled effort, with a group of hard-core musicians who helped push him along through the tracks and provide counterweight to his huge sound. I much prefer seeing him live because the rhythm section gets to live it up a little and provide some meaty fills.

Janie's Got a Gun was a serious look into a tragic situation.That's not something you find in most rocker's music collections. I also thought that the Aerosmith of the 80s-90s was fantastic as well.And the songs are powerfull.

The album Nirvana's Unplugged remains one of the band's most majestic moments.It was recorded just six months before the death of Kurt Cobain and released just six months after.November of 1994 saw the release of Nirvana's first posthumous album, "MTV Unplugged in New York." Kurt Cobain seems completely relaxed throughout, and he gives some staggeringly beautiful vocal performances. Dave Grohl plays the drums with wire brushes and demonstrates that he was just as capable of subtle shading as he was at hard-hitting fury. Krist Novoselic proves himself to be a worthwhile musician as well, playing accordion on "Jesus Doen't Want Me For a Sunbeam" in additon to playing a very solid-yet-laid back acoustic bass."MTV Unplugged in New York City" would be a somber enough album as is, but considering Cobain died shortly after it was recorded, the album takes on special meaning.

The album possesses the tone and atmosphere of a funeral, although it's not so depressing that it becomes unlistenable.The Nirvana power trio of Cobain, (guitar, vocals) Dave Grohl, (drums, bass) and Krist Novoselic (bass, accordion, guitar) is joined by Pat Smear (guitar). Lori Goldston (cello) joins the band for many of the songs. Curt and Cris Kirkwood (guitar, bass) of the Meat Puppets join the band for three renditions of songs from the Meat Puppets "Meat Puppets II" (1984). A second guitar player thickens the sound and leaves Cobain free to solo. The added cello works very nicely, enhancing and enriching the songs. The added cello especially shines in "Pennyroyal Tea" and "Something in the way." this is the best live album of the 1990's and among the best ever.

Dream Theater - Octavarium

"Octavarium", Dream Theater's ninth studio album, is definitely a change in direction from "Train of Thought".Bassist John Myung propels album opener "The Root Of All Evil" with a weight equal to that of Mike Portnoy's forceful but finessed drumming and guitarist John Petrucci's masterful riffing which seems once more to widen the realm of possibilities available on the instrument. Keyboardist Jordan Rudess lends subtle and deft touches throughout helping further solidify the outfit's equally strong footing in the worlds of heavy and progressive rock.Since 1994, Dream Theater has followed an uncanny pattern in album excellence. "Awake" was unbelievable - "Falling Into Infinity" was pretty good - "Scenes From a Memory" is the best album of all time - "Six Degrees ..." has its creative merits - "Train of Thought" is an unstoppable beast.Although the album Octavarium may not survive the test of time like "Images and Words" or "Scenes From a Memory" have, it is still a delightful listen and an impressive creative output.

Steven Tyler's singing voice began to take on the high-pitched, over-the-top sound that made him one of the most identifiable singers in rock n' roll. Aerosmith even began to branch out their songs, playing more original, experimental, and darker tracks that distinguished them from other blues and Led Zeppelin clones.'Get Your Wings' is a fantastic album, and unfortunately is often overlooked by fans of Aerosmith's earlier material. This album has a very mature sound, and Joe Perry and Steven Tyler display some of their best work here. Aerosmith would go on to even greater success with 'Toys In The Attic' and 'Rocks', but you shouldn't overlook their first albums, because they are just as good

Nirvana's "Nevermind" what I should supposed to say.Nirvana's "Nevermind" is undoubtedly one of the greatest rock albums of-all-time. From the classic intro of "Smells Like Teen Spirit,"In Bloom", "Lithium", "Come As You Are" (my personal favorite from the band), and, of course, "Smells Like Teen Spirit". But the album as a whole is amazing. "Drain You" is one of the best Alternative songs ever made. "Breed", "Territorial Pissings", and "Stay Away" are punk rock perfection" to the subdued closing "Something In the Way," every song is both instantly memorable and brilliant.At the end of "Something in the Way" we get a few minutes of outtakes with Kurt going even more mental than anything you've heard on any of the earlier tracks which I thought was interesting. There isn't a single bad song on this disc. "Nevermind" is like a greatest hits in of itself.And still "Nevermind" often emulated, never duplicated, is still one of the best albums of all-time and belongs in every rock collection.

This is the best album yes No doubt one of the band's best albums. Again, just about every song on the album is a classic, "Back In The Saddle", "Last Child", Rats In The Cellar", "Sick As A Dog", "Nobody's Fault", "Get The Lead Out", "Lick And A Promise", and another great ballad "Home Tonight".Interesting lyrics, deep rhythms, and hot leads kept up the Aerosmith tradition on this release.

If 'Dream On' was the only good song on the record, this would still be a great album. But there is so much more. 'Mama Kin' is a great rocker, and so is 'Movin' Out.' The rest of the album is great too. All in all, Aerosmith's debut album is highly recommended.So If you are new to Aerosmith and want to get into their old stuff you won't be disappointed. Or if you're an old fan who hasn't quite gotten around to pickin up Aerosmith's substantial catalog do yourself a favor and pick it up now

The video and sound quality are great Although it is not a complete collection of her videos since her early beginnings, Madonna's "Immaculate Collection," features some of her greatest videos that made her an MTV darling throughout the 1980's.The Immaculate Collection DVD is a set of several of Madonna's earliest videos; and this DVD starts off strong with the beautiful "Lucky Star." Madonna dances up against a white background with merely two background dancers for much of the length of this number. Nevertheless, in "Lucky Star" Madonna already begins to beg and work her way into your heart not merely as a very attractive young woman but also as a legitimate artist singing, dancing and pouring her heart out. "Borderline" follows and the action speeds up with something of a plot going on while Madonna sings.So If you've been burned out on the other 12 selections, then make this your main objective - it's classic if ever there was one in Madonna's musical history.

White Lion - Mane Attraction

Mane Attraction is White Lion's final studio album, is also its best.As good as Mane Attraction's songs are, there's nothing at the same level as Cry for Freedom or Little Fighter on this album.Tracks three and four keep the fast beat alive, but oddly do a nice job to set the stage for the beautiful power ballad "You're All I Need." The following song, "It's Over" is a great transition song to go from the guitar-ridden ballad to track 7, "War song," in which the bassist James Lomenzo gets a chance to really strut his stuff.While the fact that lead singer Mike Tramp, unlike many of the so-called "hair band" singers makes this CD a great purchase for both your ears.

Dream Theater - Live with the Octavarium Orchestra

Dream Theater played "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" and "Octavarium" all the way through. Those two songs alone ate up 1/3 of the show. The band was as amazing and tight as always, no more discussion needed on that subject. The Orchestra really added to the second half of the show, but more importantly, they didn't drown out the band the fans paid to see.The best part of the second DVD has to be the documentary showing the history of the band from the days of being at Berklee School of Music up to the present day. Definitely a good look into DT's history, and a great companion to the book that Rich Wilson is writing on www.dreamtheaterbook.com.Overall, this is an amazing DVD from one of the best progressive metal bands ever, and if you favorites Dream Theater latest release over previous works, this will be a treasure.

madonna - Give It 2 Me

Give It 2 Me is the Material Girl at her best; strong, tucking a message away in hypnotic lyrics and producing good pop and dance music that has a new, fresh sound rather than something underwhelming like '4 Minutes'. I love the Feddie Le Grand Remix, Oakenfold Extended Remix, the Tong & Soon Wonderland Mix and the Eddie Amador House Lovers Mix are the best. The super long version of Eddie Amador Club is also great too.

Pride has probably Vito's best release playing Guitar, packed full with great solo's. Both Big Game and Mane Attraction have several good solo's and Blue Monday. Other wise he's not offering anything new on Guitar.Discovered White Lion Vito's guitar playing is melodic and his guitar tone is great. Mike's vocals are very emotional.And now In all Pride has the best released songs from White Lion and should be in everyones collection.

Gary Moore - Still Got the Blues

Still Got The Blues became a classic among blues albums. The songs cover all the possible straight forward blues, always dominated by Gary Moores inspiring guitar virtuosity.
this is probably Gary's best blues CD. He still had that unmistakable fire in his playing. I'm sure the blues purists think he's too loud and too fast on this disc to be considered a blues man, boo hoo!! Gary plays like this because he can! This CD is chock full of Gary's trademark fire and passion. And his solo on the track Still Got The Blues is superb, great tone, vibrato and feel. If I was only going to get one Gary Moore blues disc it would be this one followed closely by After Hours. I will always prefer the Gary Moore than slashed and burned on the Victims Of The Future and Corridors of Power discs but his playing on this disc isn't too shabby
